I have to admit that this presidential election has given me an opportunity to reflect on society and friends.  Thank you friends, and even some of my own distant relatives, for supporting Donald Trump; I now know the level of your intelligence.  Just like Donald Trump, you care only for yourself.  What about the country? What about the rest of the world in which we live?  Let us not forget the visionary speech delivered by the late President John F. Kennedy.  His words still reverberate in my ears: “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”  How could we forget such a profound statement so soon?

I am not expecting you to see the world exactly as I do, because we all have different perspectives.  But to stare at the same scene with a distorted view and be willfully blind to the truth—there is something wrong with that.

This is exactly what happened to you, my friends, before, during, and after the election.  While Trump continues his mission to steer the country toward the Dark Ages, you follow him blindly, as if he is a real prophet.  What has Trump done for the greater good of the country?  He may be a billionaire with property worldwide, but how did he make his billions? Is he is in the same league as honest and hard-working entrepreneurs like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page, and Sergey Brin, whose works have benefited the world?  All that Trump has done has been for himself, at the expense of small businesses and minority workers and through tax evasion and outsourcing resources.

A scientific study on climate change has just been released (see LA Times, 11-11, 2016), according to which “The activities of an average American melt 50 square meters of sea ice each year.”  At that rate, it won’t take long to cause a mythic flood destined to destroy many of the coastal cities around the world.  Yet instead of taking action to stop global warming, Donald Trump denies the existence of climate change and advocates the use of fossil fuels and coal.  Such a stupid step by the president of a progressive nation could have disastrous consequences globally.

I don’t understand how people fail to see the underpinning of Trump’s backwards, exclusive, and adverse policies.  To me they are clear red flags that could lead to the stagnation of the country.  Hostile relationships with other countries that may result in terrorist attacks, or even war, loom in the horizon.  This is to say nothing of a further rift among our own political parties and discrimination against ethnic, religious, and gender minorities; these are bound to happen amongst the hatred gripping our nation. With increasing attacks on minority groups, it has become unsafe and scary to go out—and this is just the beginning.  Wait until Trump takes the Oath of Office in January… sadly such incidents will be daily occurrences.

Leaders bring out the best in people.  Trump, on the other hand, has effectively managed to bring out the worst in people by spreading rumors, lies, and hatred against individuals he doesn’t like.  He’s not a good leader or role model.  His unethical, immoral, and even criminal acts disgust me.  Some of my friends, however, follow him blindly as if he is a saint.  I am sorry to say that you are being conned; you have become a Trumper.  You are deluded if you can’t see that a Trump presidency will set us back decades.  Will it take the world coming to an apocalyptic end to open your eyes? At that point it will be too late. Now is the time to open your eyes. Now is the time to see the truth about Donald Trump.

To my Nepali friends who supported Trump: what were you thinking?  Are you an Anglo-Saxon?  Don’t forget your origin!  You are an ethnic minority in the U.S., and under his policies you are likely to be deported, if not deported you will be blamed for the nation’s every problem.  Would you like to live as a pariah?  The choice is yours, of course.

It’s easy to sweep dirt under the rug, but that will not solve the problem.  My friends, by hiding Trump’s bad deeds in the form of dirt under the rug you are not really getting rid of the dirt.  It’s still there, and one day it is going to come out to give you an awful allergy.
